The official line out of Queens is that Daniel Murphy has “discomfort” in his right knee. He is scheduled for a precautionary MRI in New York Wednesday or Thursday.
This is not incompatible with the news Matt Cerrone reported this morning that Murphy has a “sprain.” A sprain would certainly involve discomfort. The source I had would not go on record with a specific diagnosis without the MRI. Moreover, the outstanding questions now are, assuming it is a sprain and not some other knee problem, 1. which knee ligament is hurt? and 2. how badly?
