News: Keyspan Park to host Baracklyn Cyclones Day
By Christopher Guy - Jan 12, 2009 5:40 pm

According to their website, the Mets’ Single A farm team will be renamed the Baracklyn Cyclones for its June 23 game in Brooklyn against the Hudson Valley Renegades (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays).

It will be “honoring the 44th President of the United States with a night of patriotic partying at the ballpark.”

Some of the highlights listed on their website include the wearing of alternate red, white, and blue jerseys, free Barrack Obama bobble heads to the first 2,500 fans, Universal Health Care (free band-aids to the first 1,000 fans), and The Economic Stimulus Package (From 10am on January 20th – Inauguration Day – to midnight on January 23rd, ticket prices for the June 23rd game will be ‘rolled back’ to the Cyclones’ inaugural 2001 season rates.)

Also anyone named Barack, McCain, or Palin gets in for free. In addition, any plumber named Joe gets 2 free tickets; one for himself and another to “spread the wealth.”

For more on this creative promotion, check out the specical web site that they developed or a YouTube promotional video.

this certainly was a very creative idea by the Cyclones and one in which i’m sure they’ll get a lot of attention for… it’ll be interesting to see if the first family decides to attend…
