Recaps: Niese’s Struggles Continue, Bowman Goes Deep

AAA: Buffalo Bisons (1) @ SYRACUSE CHIEFS (7)
The Bisons struggles continued as they fell to 1-10 on the season. LHP Jonathan Niese (pictured) didn’t fare well once again, allowing seven runs (five earned) and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings (0 BB / 6 K)  to suffer his second loss. He’s allowed twelve runs and twenty-two hits in just 12.1 innings during his first three starts. At the plate OF Fernando Martinez was 2-for-4 with a double and C Robinson Cancel also added two hits. OF Nick Evans was 0-for-4 and saw his average drop to .122 (5-for-41).

AA: Portland Sea Dogs (2) @ BINGHAMTON METS (4)
RHP Ryan Coultas made his second professional start and held his own, going 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, four hits, and a walk while striking out three. LHP Adam Bostick picked up the win, his second, with a scoreless 1 2/3 innings. LHP Roy Merritt worked a perfect 1 2/3 for his Eastern League leading fifth save. 3B Shawn Bowman and 1B Lucas Duda each added two hits and a home run a piece in the victory.

    niese looked to have more bad luck than anything.
