A – South Atlantic League
@ Augusta GreenJackets 7, Savannah Sand Gnats 2
The Gnats had five hits and four errors – that’s a tough way to win a baseball game.
One of the errors belonged to Jefry Marte (pictured), his 25th. However, Marte also homered in the ninth inning, his fourth of the year.
LHP Robert Carson (3-4, 2.35) lasted five innings, yielding two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits and two walks. He fanned three.

Jefry Marte has 14 extra base hits this year: 6 doubles, 4 triples, and 4 homeruns. All 6 doubles and all 4 homers have come against right-handed pitchers. However, all 4 triples have come against lefties. Even more amazing, Marte has gotten just 6 hits against lefties all year, so of those 6 hits, 4 have been triples. How bizarre is that??
Well done. That’s really odd.
And, when do they move him to a position with a future?
Sometime around the time he’s in AA. At that point his timing to the big leagues and the Mets own roster needs will be clearer.
