AAA: Buffalo Bisons (17-19) – Off
The Mets acquired Chip Ambres from the Boston Red Sox. The 29-year old was hitting .259/.335/.368 for Pawtucket in the International League. Ambres played for the Mets in 2007. He hit a solid .274/.379/.475 for the Zephyrs and was 1-3 in a brief cameo with New York. Ambres spent the majority of last year with the Portland Beavers (Padres) of the PCL where he hit a career-high 22 homers.

Rough outing for Calero, he really has come back to earth after that great start in April..
Ike Davis hit one out. I guess he’s feeling better after all. Nick Evans went deep too (for Binghamton). That’s a few good games in a row for Evans. Nice to see he still has a pulse.
In other news, Josh Thole is a machine. Another 3-hit night bumps his average up to .357. The minute his D is given the seal of approval he’ll be on the first train to Buffalo, because the bat is ready now.
Who/what did the Mets give up for Ambres?
you can pencil thole in for backup catcher next year i bet… assuming his defense goes along smoothly and doesn’t hit a setback
No idea re: the Mets/Sox deal for Ambres. It shouldn’t be much.
