The interesting thing here isn’t the scoreboard, but the resucitation of 1B Nick Evans.  Evans was 2-4 with a double, his third game in four outings with an extra base hit and is now hitting .304/.371/.500 in 14 June games for the B-Mets after hitting .200/.273/.325 in nine May games.

LF Lucas Duda (.276/.389/.396 – pictured) was 2-2 with a double.  More remarkably, he initiated a double steal with a delayed attempt towards second, that allowed Evans to swipe home.

C Josh Thole (.346/.416/.455 overall) was 1-4.  After hitting .369/.440/.490 through the end of May, he’s returned to Earth with a .278/.344/.352 June.

Eric Brown (4-5, 4.81) gave up three runs on nine hits in seven innings.  He fanned six and walked one.

At this point I wouldn’t quite describe Thole’s June as a return to Earth, but rather more of an early June hiccup. In his first 6 June games, Thole hit .167/.250/.292. In the 8 games since then, he’s hit .367/.424/.400. He’s been a bit streaky lately and he has collected just 3 XBH in June, but he also has only 1 K in 61 June plate appearances. Regardless, the Mets have to be absolutely thrilled with what they’ve gotten from Thole so far this year.

nice numbers, thanks

He’s been on a pretty steady .350 clip all year but for a few bad days grouped together here or there. Which is amazing when you look at the K/BB and power production as well.

what more does Thole really need to do to earn a promotion to AAA? Wouldn’t want to steal Robinson Cancel’s playing time or anything…

supposedly he needs to hone his defensive skills/game calling
