It pretty much has to be Kaplan, they’ve used their four other starters in the last three days. They’ll need someone else for tomorrow because of the double headers…

      “AAA: who cares…”

      Clearly not the players…

John Halama pitched for Buffalo last year, so he’s facing his former uniform tonight…
Wilson Valdez has never played for the Bison, but I’m sure they’ll take him back anyway.

      re: AAA
Yeah, with Fernando Martinez with the Mets, it’s tough to really give a damn if Jon Niese or Tobi Stoner aren’t starting.

Is there any good way to track draftee signings? Mets.com’s “Draft Results” page still lists nobody as signed, and Baseball America is at least a day behind (and doesn’t list date of signing). Anyone aware of another way to get this information? Also, is there any way to find out who’s in “Extended Spring Training”? It seems like some players have just fallen off the face of the Earth. For example, where’s Cole Abbott?

according to baseballcube he hasn’t pitched since 2007, when he was with the GC Mets and put up atrocious numbers…

Fair enough, but I’d still like to find a list of XST players if it’s out there. I know it’s a little on the crazy side, but I’d like to think that it’d be possible to get a list of all players under the Mets’ control, regardless of whether they’re currently on a roster.

Usually during ST a complete list of players in minor league camp is available from Adam Rubin and a few other writers. What happens after that is anyones guess as some of them never show up anywhere.

          My unknowns are the following:

P’s: Raul Batis, John Holdzkom, Jorge Rodriguez,
Patrick Maat C, Douglas McNulty 1B, David Montas 2B, Ignacio Medrano IF, Tyler Vaughn 3B,
OF’s: Scott Grimes, Michael Hernandez, B. J. Hubbert

I’m only mildly curious about Holdzkom and Hubbert.

Also Nathan Vineyard is under the Mets control, but he apparently doesn’t want to play.

Every year players just disappear, its a normal part of the process.

Good tip on the Spring Training lists. I know players “disappear” but with the internet and the inexpensiveness of electronic storage space that exist nowadays, you’d think there would be some database or some way to keep track. Oh well, maybe someday.

Something like that would have to come from the front office. I’m sure they have some sort of master list, but what good does it do them to share it with us? Would there really be more than about 10 people out there who would actually use that list for anything?

The transactions page in mets.com lists all the players as they sign and where they are assigned to play this year. Its a nice new addition to the mlb.com sites.

That’s actually perfect for draft signings. Thanks!

Binghamton has seven batters hitting .280 or better, yet can’t seem to put together an extended rally… or win a few games in row, somehow.

Mets-Yanks Florida style (St. Lucie at Tampa) has been postponed tonight. They will likely play a double dip this weekend… without all the two stadium, cross city busing nonsense.

Evan LeBlanc gets right into action with Savannah, well as much action as a DH can get.

Mochizuki is in there at SS for Kingsport tonight, while lefty Chris Hillard makes the start on the mound. Hillard appeared as a reliever in 10 games for the GCL Mets last year rackinh up 17 K’s to 2 BB in 15 2/3 IP.

18 year old catcher Nelfi Zapata had three hits today and is off to a 5 of 9 with 6 RBI. The GCL squad won a rain shorted game against the GCL Nats whose lineup incuded the rehabbing Lastings Milledge and Dimitri Young.

with Maine going down until past the allstar game, should the mets bump redding into the bullpen and call up niese?

    i would..

this is strange.. in the boxscore it says the BMets got 1 run in the 6th… but yet no runs allowed by any pitchers for Akron.. and in the recap it doesnt say anything about a run scoring… nobody has an RBI either.. wtf?

      26. Jun, 2009 at 10:08 pm #

yup, the live boxes have issues here and there.
Its neat when the line score says its 6-2 but the innings add up to 4-4…
The best is when they change a player mid way through the game because they had the wrong name in there to start…

Bostick and Lopez with poor relief outings for AAA, just when I was thinking I had seen enough of Pat Misch I guess he might actually be the best available option right now…

      forget Eddie Kunz?

        27. Jun, 2009 at 10:28 am #

No, they need to have (at least) two lefties in the pen, that’s what I was talking about.

Kunz and Dessens are still debatable though. I questioned that move the day it was made…
