Wednesday Night Games
By Toby Hyde - Jul 1, 2009 5:00 pm

I’m going to use the next few hours to get a look at Niagara Falls, which I’ve never seen before.

The Bisons are off. Eric Brown is scheduled to start for Binghamton.  St.  Lucie is scheduled for a double-dip beginning at 5 PM, Brant Rustich is listed as a probable for St. Lucie.

Have fun talking amongst yourselves.  I’ll promise to visit.

St. Lucie @ Dunedin has been called already. They will try to play two tomorrow, the other game is likely to be canceled altogether.

Jake Ruckle has been sent back down to St. Lucie after providing some long relief for Binghamton last night. Bingy needs all the fresh arms it can find with Antonini in the pen and Mejia not being used this week.

Josh Stinson has been promoted to St. Lucie after being serviceable for Savannah.

Savannah added two pitchers. Lefty John Church, who has pitched one inning for the Cyclones, and righty Tim Smith, who has appeared twice for Kingsport.

SS Robbie Shields and 2B James Ewing have been added to the Cyclones IF. Only Ewing is in tonights lineup, however.

but wait, there’s more…

Angel Cuan was moved to Kingsport. He has both of the Cyclones losses this year. 15 hits in 8 IP adds up to a .429 BAA

OF Joe August has been ‘promoted’ to Savannah. He had a single and a walk in 6 AB’s for Brooklyn.

If you get the chance before you leave, you should try and check out the Canadian side of Niagra. It’s generally more interesting than the American side.

nice 8 inning outing from Carson in a win for Savannah. It’s a shame this kid doesn’t have a put away pitch, but even so he could be a nice dark horse prospect.

Raul Reyes hit a 3 run bomb in the 2nd, after which the Savannah offense had just a walk the rest of the way. Time of game was a tidy 2:00

Marte made his 28th and 29th errors.

just checked Savannah game (oddly forgot about it) .. Gem of a game by Carson: 8 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K..

Toby how do you feel about this guy (and Familia for that matter)? Carson really isn’t putting up strikeout numbers but hes kept a nice ERA – 2.27 .. Familia has been just as good, but even tougher to hit.. but again, like Carson, doesn’t strike out many..

Its tough to get outs at the upper levels without more K’s down there. Carson has a somewhat poor BB/K rate as well.

Sal Aguilar, Jose Sanchez, Dylan Owen, Gee even. They have had a number of these types in recent years, so maybe eventually one of them will bust through.

In the case of Familia he is younger, maybe he can develop into additional strikeouts.

and does anyone know what happened to Jordany Valdespin? He hasn’t appeared in a game since June 2nd.
