I read that Urbina got $1.2M.

I do like this signing. Getting Matz and Urbina infuses the system with two projectable lefties – something that the Mets don’t have.

Nice to see the strikeouts were there… Im surprised hes gone after 3.1 IP though.. very strange, must’ve ran his pitch count up

They haven’t had a truly huge signing since Fernando (Pena maybe, how much did he get?), they’ve been having a lot of success signing a few guys for moderately high bonuses like Wilmer/Rodriguez/Marte and getting guys no one’s heard of like Mejia for pocket change. A bonus north of a mill says they must really like Urbina.

I like the signing.. young kid with a fastball and curveball that could develop into plus offerings. Sounds similar to the Mets 2nd rd. pick Matz, no? Same fastball velocity and a curveball that could develop into a plus pitch.. except, Urbina is 2 years younger than Matz.
