Sunday Full-Season Recaps: Stoner Stars on Rainy Day

Tobi Stoner (3-4, 4.47) beat Ian Snell and the Indians with his best AAA performance.  In eight innings, Stoner (pictured) held the Pirates AAA affiliate to one run, a solo HR by Brian Bixler leading off the first inning and four hits overall.  He fanned seven and did not walk a batter.   Stoner threw 66 of his 104 pitches for strikes.

Nick Evans RBI single in the first extended his hitting streak to seven games.  Mike Lamb singled home Andy Green with the decisive run in the third inning.

AA: B-Mets @ ErieSeawolves (DET) – Rained Out

The game will not be made up.  It is the B-Mets second canceled game this year.

A+: St. Lucie Mets @ Clearwater Threshers (PHI)- Suspended by rain

Pedro Martinez’s return to action as a Phillie was halted after four outs.  He struck out Stefan Welch before the rains came and threw 24 pitches in the game and sixty more under a covered bullpen to complete his day’s goal of 85 pitches.  According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Pedro’s fastball was 87-90 mph and touched 92.

A: @ Greensboro Grasshoppers (FLA) 9, Savannah Sand Gnats 2

Five Gnats errors helped lead to four unearned runs off reliever Tim Smith in the fifth and sixth innings.  2B Josh Satin (.302/.400/.428) was 2-4 with a double, but also committed two errors, his fifth and sixth of the year.
