By Toby Hyde on 20. Aug, 2009

SSA: Brooklyn Cyclones 6, @ State College Spikes (PIT) 1

The Mets 7th round pick, Darrin Gorski (3-3, 4.72) kept the Spikes off-balance, limiting the team to one run on two hits in seven innings while punching out five.  Jake Goldberg, who had been effective in the Savannah ‘pen, gave Brooklyn a scoreless inning with a strikeout.  SS Robbie Shields (.163/.263/.269 in 104 AB) was 2-4, in his fifth multi-hit game.  His next three-hit game will be his first as a professional.

Rookie (GCL): GCL Cardinals 7, @ GCL Mets 2 hall, zeericka_4680

RF ZeErika Hall (.303/.415/.374 – pictured) was 2-3 with a double and a walk.  The 21-year-old Hall has walked a lot, 17 times in his first 99 AB, but he also owns 25 strikeouts.  Hall, who the Mets drafted in the 29th round out of East Central (Miss) Community College, led Diamond Warriors in doubles (21) and stolen bases (22).  He claims that the Mets are his favorite team.
