Mason has been solid so far.. 5 IP, 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB/1 K .. 69 pitches.
7 IP, 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB/3 K .. 93 pitches.
good stuff from mason who really struggled at the AAA last year and part of this year when he was in the TB organization.
RHP Jake Goldberg pitched 2 perfect innings tonight in relief for the Cyclones and recorded 3 whiffs. Since arriving from Savannah last week, Goldberg and Manny Olivares have combined for 6 shutout innings in relief.
just wanted to get this out there but this guy the mets obtained for billy wagner chris carter looks ilke he could be a solid player…hes never been given a chance to play in the majors for an extended period of time so this is perfect for him to see what he can do once he joins the organization…he hits some hr’s and has decent batting statistics….his defense is said to be iffy but just cuz hes 26 doesnt mean he cant be a good player…im excited to see what he can do and i think being traded might give him a lil jolt and he could really surprise people..i just gotta feeling hes giong to come in and maybe pull a mike jacobs when he first got called up…im not sayin hes the answer at first but we might as well see what we’ve got and i think we may just be pleasantly surprised….
Here’s the problem. You’re HOPING for a surprise! And that’s all we got for Wagner!
On the other hand, if we kept him, offered him arbitration, there’s a really good chance he’d decline and we’d get two draft picks.
Which we could use effectively…like 2008, when we picked up some dudes named Ike Davis and Brad Holt just for letting some old guy named Tom Glavine go.
Instead we get a 27 year old who we might get lucky on. THANKS!
trust me ive been talkin about billy wagners compensatory draft picks all year and all i wanted the mets to do was keep him for the draft picks unless they were getting back a legit prospect but for us to all sit on metsminor league blog and bash some dude we dont even konw is kind of pathetic….the mets are turning into a pathetic franchise which sucks cuz they have been my team forever but im getting to the point where im not sure ill be watchin them much next year and not cuz ima jump ship to a new team cuz id never do that but because i just cant stand to watch them sometimes….id rather watch hockey right now or even golf then watch the mets….and the worst part is the ownership and gm …we aer turning into the big market pirates and if they dont start makin smarter moves they are seriously gonna lose a lot of there fanbase ….but that said id rather watch chris carter go out there and see what he can do than watch gary sheffield get taken out of the game after a fricken WALK ..or fernando tatis hit into another double play i just think he’d be a new face and right now thats all im hopin for
