Across the Pond: IBAF World Cup Opening Day

IBAF 2009 World Cup LogoThe IBAF Baseball Cup began Wednesday in Europe.

Australia smacked around the Czech Republic 17-4 in Prague.  1B Stefan Welch had a bit day.  He was  4-6 with 2 2B, a 3B, a HR and 3 RBI.

The host Germans beat up on China 14-1 with Mets C Kai Gronauer going 1-3 with a 2B, 2 BB and 2 RBI.

The US and Canada both begin play on Thursday.

    Nice to see us so well represented in this tourney.

    Good for Gronauer who missed a lot of time this year and could use the action.
