big meh RE: Mejia

1.) talking about 7+ innings of sample size.

2.) don't think he's seen him pitch.

3.) failure to address finger injury. mejia never was this wild before the injury, and it's an injury that has a large impact on a pitcher's control. he never had issues with wildness, and he was never regarded as a "mess" when he was dominating A+ and AA before his injury.

also nice to see Havens going to 2B. Hopefully he spends the winter there, and becomes the everyday 2B at Bingo (where I assume he will start out?)

Give him a good year of learning on the job, and hopefully actually staying healthy for a change, and they might have a serious player on their hands.

And the faster they can move on from Luis, and the better prepared witha replacement they are, the happier I will be.

isn't the whole point of the minors to allow young players to learn the finer points of playing the game, and develop their skills?

the kid is only 20, and is really now learning to pitch vs. throw. So what if it takes another 2-3 years, he would still only be 22/23 YO.

The impatience of some fans is amazing!

the dwight goodens of the world are few and far between.

Heck, at 20ish Johan was becoming a rule 5 guy, then spending time in the pen trying to learn how to be a pitcher.

"he’s also much more of a thrower than a pitcher, even for his age group. His arm is a
special one, but it’s also a bit of a spectacular mess."

You can pretty much say this exact statement about a lot of young hard throwers as they move up the minors. Is he supposed to be a complete pitcher at age 20? No. What pitcher is? Didn't they say the same thing about Burnett during the first few years of his career ("thrower, not a pitcher" )?

When I saw Mejia this summer in Binghamton, I thought much higher of him. His fastball consistently sat at 93-94 all day and his most impressive pitch was a sinking fastball that induced many ground balls.
Hearing this report, I'm worried he's just throwing his arm out.
