Why Ranked Here: I’ve been a Nick Carr fan for a long time, ranking him #30 two years ago before the 2009 season. His average fastball in the Arizona Fall League was 95 mph and he was touching 97. He has never commanded his heater well, and his slider is ordinary at best. However, the heat is legit and the reason he’s back in my Top 41 after a year away.
2010: Carr was limited to 30.2 innings in his return from Tommy John Surgery, which he discussed with me here.
Dr. Pangloss Says: I like hard-throwing relievers and Nicholas Carr can have a place in any bullpen of mine, including the big league one.
Debbie Downer Says: He walked over 6 batters per nine in advanced-A in St. Lucie last year. He’s never shown much in the way of command. Who could risk bringing him into a game with men on base?
Projected 2011 Start: AA Binghamton
