Eddie Kunz Stands Tall in Mets Pen

The Mets new closer, Eddie Kunz can stand proud and tall of his most recent title. Actually, it has only been by standing tall, that Kunz will have a chance to close for the Mets at all.
For at least the next few days, Kunz will get a chance to be the Mets [...]

RHP Bobby Parnell will make his triple-A debut tonight for New Orleans. He was promoted from double-A Binghamton over the weekend. He takes Claudio Vargas’s place while the veteran deals with inflammation in his elbow. Parnell, the Mets ninth round pick in 2005 out of Charleston Southern, represents a strong data point in [...]

The Monster Thank You!

I’m happily home now after a wonderful trip around the Mets minor league system.
I owe a tremendous debt of thanks to the good people at SNY including Fred Harner, Matt Cerrone and Ted Berg for helping fund and promote the trip online.
I also must thank the Mets fieldstaffs. At each stop, [...]

Breaking Down Brad Holt’s Curveball

Mets supplemental first round pick Brad Holt has quickly established himself as one of the organization’s top pitching prospects. In 43.2 innings with Brooklyn, Holt has struck out 58 batters, second in the New York Penn League. His best pitch is an explosive fastball that sits 93-95 mph and Sunday touched 96. [...]

Omar Minaya on Dan Murphy

On Friday, August 1st, Mets GM Omar Minaya answered questions about Dan Murphy.
In response to the question regarding the Mets plan for Murphy at AAA:
“We’re going to play him all over to find a place for that bat.”
That “place” is now in the BIG LEAGUES. …
On Murphy:
He’s a very good hitter….We’re very happy to [...]

In New Britain Friday

I’m beat and I’m driving back to NYC tonight, so I want to hit the road, but I wasn’t the only one curious to see Bobby Parnell throw Friday.  GM Omar Minaya was in the stands.  I’ll have a few comments from him up by Saturday.
Parnell wasn’t perfect, but he was pretty good.

On the Road Again Friday

Friday, I’m following the B-Mets to New Britain to see Bobby Parnell pitch. The team actually left Thursday night, but I’m taking off Friday morning for my drive across New York State.

I’ve got more Murphy coverage coming shortly and some mid-day-ish updates from Savannah.
